C. Applicant passing an entrance exam and interview
D. Availability in the target class level
E. Final acceptance by Hillcrest Board of Governors

1. Parental Interview
Parental Interviews will take place between 23 January and 10 February, 2012. Parents must schedule an interview with the Admissions Secretary.
An interview does not guarantee placement in Hillcrest.
The interview will include explanations of the following:
Philosophy and structure of Hillcrest School
The complete admissions procedure
The fee structure
Space availability in target class level and alternative class levels
Expectations that since Hillcrest is a Christian school, all students are required to participate in the religious activities planned
Expected parental responsibility/involvement
Relationship of the school to the hostel
School history (alluding to 40-60 student class ratio policy)
2. Applications
Applications will be filled out by the parents and turned in to the Hillcrest Admissions Secretary with a non-refundable application fee of N20,000. Applicants are also to submit passport pictures, a birth certificate and previous school transcripts. The Admissions Secretary collects and files all application forms and conducts all routine admissions correspondence.
3. Student Testing and Interview
On 23 and 24 February, 2012 Hillcrest will conduct student admissions testing and student interviews. Grade specific tests and criteria are addressed below. All children are tested irrespective of space in the target grade. If in July there is still availability in a target class level, but the applicant has not been tested, an applicant may seek permission to be tested at that time.
4. Admissions Results
By 16 March, 2012 admissions results are announced. Upon admission, the Admissions Secretary will give an applicant an acceptance packet. This packet includes an acceptance letter, dress codes and school rules, a letter from the Superintendent, a letter about the fees and a parent/student information sheet. Parents and students are to sign and return the Superintendent’s letter. As stated in the letter, the student will be on academic and behavioral probation. The student will be involved in Christian religious activities and Bible classes scheduled by the school. A physical exam form is included in the packet. This must be filled out by a medical doctor and returned to the Admissions Secretary.
6. Orientation
New Parents’ Orientation is held two days before school begins. At this meeting, parents receive an orientation packet. Materials included in the packet are several letters with pertinent information about fee structure, school calendar, needed supplies and orientation. The Packet will also include start of school information and a school handbook. Among other things the handbook will provide information about school uniforms, general dress code and school rules.
Admissions Process for Cooperating Body and Affiliate Children
The application fee and parental interviews are waived for Cooperating body children.
There will be a parental interview for Affiliate families, but the application fee is waived.
A regular application form must be completed by both Cooperating Body and Affiliate families.
Testing and interviews should take place at the same time as that of general children.
Hillcrest will make exceptions to the testing or interview timing if necessary.
Cooperating Body and Affiliate children may also be tested in July.
Cooperating Body and Affiliate parents are encouraged to apply for admission at the beginning of the school year.
Cooperating body and Affiliate children from other educational systems may be admitted during the school year.
Entrance test scores, previous school records and interviews will be used to determine the prospective student’s individual ability level. Student interviews with the appropriate grade level admissions committee will be used to make recommendations regarding admissions.
