Hillcrest recruits its teachers through various means. Some teachers are hired by the cooperating missions and then loaned to the school. Some are hired locally. Hillcrest hires the remaining teachers mostly from North America. Since the school uses an American curriculum it wants to recruit as many teachers as is possible from the United States and Canada. These teachers are called “Direct Hire” teachers.
Hillcrest will pay for transportation to and from Jos; it will provide a furnished home and also provide local medical care. Hillcrest will also pay a salary which is substantial enough to live on in Jos. It is usually not necessary to seek church or individual financial support to supplement one’s Hillcrest income. Most Direct Hire teachers will sign a two-year contract.
Teachers must be strongly committed Christian who are willing to live and work in a cross-cultural environment. Teachers are also encouraged to partner with mission sending agencies for prayer support and extra logistic support here in Nigeria.
