Prayer Letter for February 16
Once we too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. But – when GOD our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Titus 3:3-6 NLT
Dear Parents, House-Parents and Staff:
Two weeks ago was Spiritual Emphasis Week. I attended just once (day four) and it was an awesome session. The speaker asked the question “What then does GOD save us from?” We read Psalm 18:3-6. The LORD saves us from our enemies, both physical and spiritual.
Who are our enemies? He asked, “Those who feed us ideas that injure our souls” was the answer. He went on to say our enemies don’t have horns (like the enemy is depicted in pictures) they appear normal and innocent but they are positioned to destroy us. Our physical enemies include social media, phones, and lust among others.
Our spiritual enemy on the other hand is the devil, the grand commander of those who seek to destroy us. His ways are not always open and easily seen or predicted. They are subtle and crafty, he often comes as an angel of light. He uses the desires of the flesh and the ways of the world that are against the things of GOD to war against us. On our own we are unable to stand and win against these enemies.
Only GOD can save us from our enemies! From our Titus passage we have been saved from our past life of foolishness, disobedience, deceit, lust and pleasures, envy and hatred. Out of His loving kindness he saved us from death and eternal condemnation. Not because of the righteous things we have done (our righteousness is like filthy rags), but just according to His mercy. What a Savior!!!
Have you been saved? Is Jesus Christ your LORD and personal Savior?
Our God. Our Rock. Psalm 18:2
Sincerely,
