Prayer Letter for September 13

September 13, 2023
By Moms In Prayer

Dear Parents, House-Parents and Staff:

During last week’s Spiritual Emphasis Week, we had the privilege of hearing an awesome and inspiring message. Throughout the week, our speaker used A.R.I.S.E as an acronym (Attitude, Relationships, Integrity, Service, Excellence), a unique quintet of words. However, he goes about the week expanding on the intrinsic meanings of these words and the roles they play in our lives. In essence, how they affect our lives, and each of these have a significant effect on the relationships we have with others.

As our speaker brilliantly put it, “our ATTITUDE outweighs our APTITUDE, RELATIONSHIPS make or destroy us. INTEGRITY is who we are in secret, and SERVICE enables us to sit with kings.” EXCELLENCE puts the beauty of favor on us.

As with most advice, it may be difficult to make these challenging but necessary adjustments. Yet, there’s hope when we decide upon ourselves to put in the required effort for a transformation. For us to see results in our lives, there is something we must do first.

According to the scripture passage in Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “Because you have so little faith. Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Jesus is saying to you that nothing is impossible with Him. Claim that truth. However, we shouldn’t just say nothing is impossible, because if we do that, we have missed the prerequisite, FAITH.

Thankfully, the faith needed isn’t ocean-sized, God says we just need faith the size of a mustard seed. God's not asking us to have perfect faith, just some faith! He will surely cover the rest.

Yes, our attitudes will change, relationships with others will improve, and so on, only  if we have a little faith in God. We just have to believe and put in effort. The two go hand in hand and then we will see results. An attitude change is reflected in how you serve those around you. How you serve others is a huge pillar in the relationship you will have with them.

The things learnt during Spiritual Emphasis Week are truths from the word of God. If we hold onto them, they will help us reach greater heights.

In John 8:31-32, Jesus says, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  The truth about our attitude, relationships with God and man, our integrity, service to God and man might not be what we’re willing to change because it affects our freedom. Yes, we all want our freedom. In fact, there isn’t much better than freedom, but how do we expect to find freedom if we don’t hold true to what Jesus taught us? We know how precious freedom is, and no one wants to give it up. However, know  there is no greater freedom in knowing you’re living a life in honour of your Maker. The word of God is the only source of truth for Christians, so we should hold onto it firmly. Although the Christian race is long and hard and we will never be perfect, if we continue to strive and have faith,God will reward our efforts. Then we can look back and see how far He has brought us.

Sincerely,
